Born to tell impactful, exciting stories through acting and filmmaking
Devin has been writing movies since he was six years old after first watching the film Terminator 2. A few years later, he saw Jurassic Park in theaters and had the epiphany that he wanted to “make and star in movies.”
He’s written three novels (two Amazon bestsellers; one series selected by NASA for its innovation) and has written, directed, starred in, and produced three feature films, numerous shorts, and social media videos. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from CSUN and worked as a programmer in gaming and tech for 20 years.
For the last 16 years, he and his wife, Jacqueline, have been making movies in the trenches together and are an inseparable and powerful team who complement each other on set and in life.
Incredibly passionate about movies and life, he dedicates himself wholly to making movies and has experience in all aspects of production and does whatever it takes to get a movie done and make it great, no matter the budget.
His indie breakout feature film Being Black Enough was made for $23,000 and premiered at Dances With Films in 2017, receiving two standing ovations at separate screenings of the film and winning the audience award at the festival. The film had a limited theatrical release and created a big buzz upon its multi-platform release. It continues to stay relevant, being played in schools and used for youth groups, inspiring them to live positive lives. The film garnered a lot of attention in the industry as well.
Former Chairman of Disney Studios, Alan Horn, called the film “a powerful statement on identity and what it means to be ‘Black Enough.’” Gale Anne Hurd, producer of Aliens, Terminator, and The Walking Dead, called Devin an “auteur, in every sense of the word!” Several independent reviewers have called Devin “The Next Spike Lee.”
Before Being Black Enough, Devin wrote, directed, and starred in a hit web series A Demon’s Destiny: The Lone Warrior, which received millions of views from avid fans across multiple platforms. A Demon’s Destiny has been touted by many fans to have been better than the other “Live Action Anime” DragonBall Evolution ($100 million budget vs. A Demon’s Destiny’s $2,500 budget).
Devin’s last film was the experimental horror film The Sleep: Survival Horror (Part One). Devin had been passionate about making a low-budget B-horror movie inspired by movies he saw in the 80s and wanted to try his hand at making a horror film. The cult movie has been growing in attention and fans, despite being released during the years of COVID. The film has tens of millions of views on its marketing on TikTok and got a lot of attention. They plan to do a re-release of the film later this year so it can have its proper due.
Due to working on such extremely low budgets on the last 3 films, Devin has had to do all of post-production himself on every project. Devin and Jacqueline together have had their hands in every job on and off set. The two have no fear of any filmmaking challenge.
Devin is excited for his next movie Artificial Reality to be his first with an adequate budget, to fully achieve what he sees in his vivid imagination. Having countless fans tell him “I can’t wait to see what you do with a real budget,” he is looking forward to making the fanboys and girls go nuts!
